You need to be prepared for sudden weather changes while trekking or climbing. That’s why trekking equipment should be chosen carefully before the trip. The weather during the Andean summer (from May to October) is somewhat more stable.

Trekking is safe in Cordillera Huayhuash as long as you have a proper guide or you go with someone who is familiar with the area.

How will I be affected by high altitude?

Travelers on the Cordillera Blanca and the Cordillera Huayhuash will encounter high altitudes

- between 3250 and 5000 m. Symptoms you may experience include headache, nausea, loss of appetite, trouble with sleep, and lack of energy. We recommend you consult your physician about the altitudes featured in your trip's itinerary. Prescription drugs to minimize symptoms are available.

Can I organize a trek on my own?

Yes, there is no reason why not. We can put in touch with Horsemen, Cooks, rent you camping or mountaineering equipment and give you all the information before you leave for a trip.

How many hours will I need to walk per day?

Typically you need to walk at least 3.5 hours before lunch break and 2 hours after lunch, it all depends on how healthy and fit you are, most of the breaks come after crossing a pass.
